As a student it is important to not only grow in knowledge and understanding of your academic interests but also grow as a leader, take charge and network with other professionals in the industry. Below are some of my extracurricular activities and interests.

Anchor 1
Geologic Society of America, South-East Section Annual Conference Columbia, South Carolina. March 2016

I was a student volunteer at this conference where I coordinated technical oral sessions by acting as a liaison between session chairs and speakers.

Remediation Workshop and Professional Development Hours (PDH)
Buffalo NY - April 2015 and May 2016

Attended the workshop to learn more about environmental remediation practices, techniques and to keep myself informed of the latest soil and groundwater remediation technologies.

Buffalo Association of Professional Geologist (BAPG)
New York State Council of Professional Geologist (NYSCPG)

As a member of these two professional organizations I get the previlige to attend member meetings, presentation and also network with local professionals in the field.

40 Hour OSHA-HAZWOPER Course

I realized that having the 40 Hour certificate would be really beneficial for a job search and so I contacted the program department at UB. After conducting some surverys it was concluded that there were other students who wanted to take the training as well. So I organized and coordinated between the instructor and students for the training to be held at UB.

Mark Diamond Research Fund Review Council, University at Buffalo

During the summer of 2015, I was fortunate enough to be a part of the review council for awarding fundings for research to students. Through this process I have learned to work together as a group and come to a decision of whether proposals would be accepted or rejected for grants.

University Presbyterian Church, Buffalo NY
Food Pantry Volunteer

I have always wanted to give back to the community that I live in and so I found this volunteering opportunity as a way to not only help out the community but also serve others in need.
